This immersive, multimedia exhibit, curated by Emmy-winning producer Shellée Haynesworth of the Black Broadway on U Project, celebrates DC’s early Black women performers and playwrights. “Black Broadway” was the moniker given to the U Street corridor in the early 20th century, where luminaries such as Pearl Bailey and Cab Calloway could be found performing. This entertaining, engaging experience will educate audiences about the city’s rich history with Black theatre and inspire reflection and conversation.
The Opening Reception on Thursday, October 5 is now SOLD OUT. Please please register to join us Friday, October 6 through Sunday, October 8, open 2-6pm.
